After many years as a tapestry weaver I am enjoying the exploration of paper as an artistic medium. Very thin paper glues down seamlessly and you can create an illusion of depth by layering papers. Combining the paper with acrylic paint or with pastel crayons adds color and detail and adding thicker paper for texture is very satisfying as well.
During the last year I have been working on making small collages of silk organza. These can be combined with paper or with other fabrics. I like sewing the different layers together and I am exploring the idea of shredding or tearing something and then sewing it up, mending it, making it into something it was not before.
