Summer Exhibition Celebration
May 24, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

April 24, 2018—BLOWING ROCK, NC—Pottery, sculpture, photos, prints, history, and community abound! Don’t miss the party of the season with the opening of five new exhibitions at the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum (BRAHM). BRAHM will be hosting its Summer Exhibition Celebration on Thursday, May 24th at 5-7 p.m. The reception is open to the public with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar available throughout the evening. Featured exhibitions include “Etchings & Lithographs of American Life, 1905-1943,” “Handcrafted: North Carolina Clay,” “The Way Watauga Works,” and “Ten Years of Appalachian State Ceramics.” The museum is also featuring works by its youngest artists in the annual “Young at Art Student Spectacular” exhibition in the upstairs Community Gallery.
“Our Exhibition Celebrations are some of our biggest events of the year,” says Lee Carol Giduz, Executive Director at BRAHM. “This reception features exhibitions with over 70 artists all working in clay around North Carolina and the southeast, along with over 30 members of the community who were photographed and interviewed about the work they do in Watauga County. We also have an amazing private collection of prints on display by prominent American artists from the early to mid 20th century. Our staff has been working hard and collaborating with organizations like the Smithsonian and individuals locally and across the state to bring about these exhibitions, and we really look forward to sharing them with everyone.”
One of the exhibitions on view, Handcrafted: North Carolina Clay, includes several artists from the Triangle, including OCAG members Eric Serritella and Susasn Filley.
