My work is driven by an impulse to capture the life of things through line and motion. Whether it be a landscape, a dancing figure or abstract idea, I am interested in catching its energy through the broad gesture of my brush.
I try not to be restrained by the medium I’ve chosen, expressing myself through a wide variety of materials and techniques. In watercolor I may add some wax crayon. In paintings I might sprinkle crumbled pastels into a wet surface. In collage, I make my own papers and add my own photographs.
I deliberately create ambiguity in my work to allow the viewer to have a choice and bring their own self into the work.
